I have thought about the contents of this blog many times.
What is the point of this endeavor? What mind numbing thoughts and memories would I be committing to text?Would there and more importantly should there be a point to all the mad pointless rambling and ranting?
Well after a long time and little thought this is what I came up with:
The point of this blog, as of life itself, is : Food.
I am not, however, convinced with the concept of a blog about food, with recipes, and the bloggers insights and feelings while cooking an extraordinary meal of spinach quiche. Nor am i taken by the few hundred photographs that pepper most food blogs; neatly arranged ingredients, that pasty yellow back ground lights naah, not my cup of tea.
Don't get me wrong, I totally get the merit of these sites, as a matter of fact I follow a whole bunch of them. Its jsut that one must stick to what one does best, and neatly arranging ingredients so as to adhere strictly to the dictum of colour theory while trying to angle the incandecent bulb in the kitchen so as to achive maximum ilumination is not mine, and hence I shall leave such things to people better suited to such tedium.
I think I'll do soemthing a little different. It would be interesting to give a perspective of the food industry from the inside. Ooh how rude of me, I work in a kitchen in a great restaurant in Bombay in a minor capacity. I sit up late into the night head swimming with dreams that only inhabit the prime time spots of upward-mobile: my own chefs jacket with black piping and name embroidered in blue....aaah. So it would be an interesting exercise to pen down the happenings and goings on inside the industry and how it approaches food, and how working in it has changed and hopefully evolved my concept of the food I eat and how its made. If its doesnt sound that interesting, well pardon my french, but piss off.
Taking into account my propensity to wander and complete lack of focus, I think it would be prudent to pen down something like this. A mission statement of sorts. However don't be overly surprised if I start taking about a certain variety of blue frogs in the amazon that glow bright orange in UV light on a certain day of every 3rd year.
This being typed out, I have no excuse to procrastinate any further. So without any adieu I give you:
